WEEK 7 FANDUEL QUARTERBACK PLAYS
Cash Games – C.J. Beathard ($6,300)
I think Tyrod Taylor is an absolutely fine cash play as well – and I think he is pretty safe. However, I think his strong defense really saps his upside. We take a look at the Atlanta Falcons offense that has returned the majority of their starters – but they look atrocious without Kyle Shanahan. In relief of Hoyer, Beathard came into the game against a reasonably strong Washington passing defense and threw for 245 yards and a touchdown pass. The Redskins rank 10th against the pass, per Football Outsiders’ DVOA. Beathard is what everyone wanted Kevin Hogan to be last week.
This week he faces off against a weak Dallas defense projected to hold a lead. They have allowed the sixth-most FanDuel points to QBs this season and they rank 23rd in DVOA against the pass. Outside of the abysmal performance by Eli Manning in Week 1, the Cowboys have allowed at least 18 fantasy points to every QB they have faced. This includes multiple touchdown passes to Trevor Siemian, Carson Palmer, Jared Goff, and Aaron Rodgers. This was the only game where Trevor Siemian completed over 61% of his passes.
Beathard is also somewhat mobile – though he only rushed one time for 14 yards last week. He had 183 rushing attempts over his last two years in college. You can make such a strong lineup with Beathard in it – for once FD pricing is tougher and you need to find savings somewhere. You can absolutely use him in GPPs as well.
GPP – Matt Ryan ($8,700)
Coming off of a week where Ryan let down the entire fantasy community, he is now in a great spot – with the Patriots having allowed a 300-yard passer every single week this season. Josh McCown just posted a 354-2-2 line against them. He also had a third touchdown that was pretty bogusly ruled a fumble.
I think Ryan should finally get a chance to put together one of those massive games we’ve been waiting for. We know New England is going to put up points against a bad Falcons defense that just gave up an actual NFL stat line to Jay Cutler. This game has the highest total by far on the slate (56.5 and rising) and will be a little lower owned because it isn’t on the main slate on DraftKings. Therefore, research is going to overlook him.
The Patriots are allowing the most FanDuel points by far to QBs on this season (25 FD), and the next worst is allowing 21 FD points. Ryan is in an absolute smash spot and will go underowned with the way FD pricing is setup this week.
