WEEK 9 FANDUEL QUARTERBACK PLAYS

WEEK 9 FANDUEL QUARTERBACK PLAYS

Each week I will list my top GPP quarterback and top Cash Game quarterback to use in your DFS lineups on FanDuel. Below are this week’s options.

GPP – Kirk Cousins ($7,500)

The Seattle Seahawks are going to be without Earl Thomas this weekend (arguably the centerpiece of their entire defense). And Cousins will have at least a few of his offensive lineman back this weekend. The combination of the rain and a battered O-Line left Cousins as the target for the defense last weekend. I think this is a great spot to capitalize on recency bias after his performance against Dallas.

Cousins had 20+ FanDuel points in four straight weeks before his poor showing last week. He had multiple touchdown passes in every single game. He also had 18+ rushing yards for three straight weeks. The Seahawks are the sixth-ranked passing defense in DVOA – but we saw them struggle to defend Deshaun Watson last weekend. They allowed him to throw for 402 yards and 4 TDs. Thankfully interceptions are only worth -1 point and won’t hurt Cousins if he throws one or two. The Seahawks might also be without Earl Thomas this week, which would be a boon to Cousins.

Last year, this is how the Seattle defense fared with Earl Thomas, per Sharp Football Stats:

And without Earl Thomas (Weeks 13-18):

Cash Games – Dak Prescott ($8,200)

Dak isn’t cheap. But I think he is the most logical beneficiary of the Zeke suspension. Prior to the Dallas outing where the defense dominated and Zeke man handled Washington he was posting MVP-caliber numbers. He had 17+ FanDuel points in every game over his last six and he posted 23+ FanDuel points in four straight. (Editor’s Note: Elliott was granted a stay by the Second Circuit Court that will let him play in Week 9).

The Kansas City passing defense has been a disaster this season. They have allowed the 10th-most FanDuel points to QBs on the year and rank 20th in DVOA passing defense. Once a major strength for KC, they rank 20th in Football Outsiders’ Adjusted Sack Rate – posting only 18 sacks this season. We have also seen mobile QBs like Wentz, Cousins, and Watson post very strong rushing numbers versus the Chiefs. Wentz had four attempts go for 55 yards, Cousins ran for 38 yards on seven attempts, and Watson ran for 31 yards on three attempts. That is nearly nine yards per carry.

We should also be looking to get exposure to the highest total of the week in our cash games. Dak is the easiest way to guarantee production in this matchup. The total has risen four points since opening at 48.5 and now sits at 52.5, and Vegas considers it a pick’em. There’s a real chance for a shootout in this game.
