Mining The 2QB Waiver Wire For Gold: Week 16
Every week I break down the 2QB waiver wire landscape with updated information and developments from the previous weeks. All starting quarterbacks need to be rostered in 2QB/Superflex fantasy football leagues, especially during the win or go home fantasy football playoffs. Let’s take a look at some players to pick up immediately and to monitor moving forward…
Tom Savage – Houston Texans
Brock Osweiler is completely and utterly awful at playing the QB position. It’s about time he was finally benched. Tom Savage came on in relief and completed 23 of 36 passes for 260 yards. The offense immediately began functioning again with Savage under center. The difference was night and day. Savage has been named the starter for Week 16, and he gets an average Bengals pass defense at home.
Matt Moore – Miami Dolphins
Props to you if you started Matt Moore last week. He threw for 236 yards and 4 TDs. However, his matchup isn’t as favorable this week as he gets the Bills on the road. Buffalo is giving up the eighth-fewest passing yards per game.
Sean Mannion – Los Angeles Rams
Jared Goff is still in the concussion protocol, and the Rams are reportedly leaning towards starting Sean Mannion if Goff is unable to play. The Rams already know what they have in Case Keenum. It’s time to give the young guy a shot. Mannion was drafted in the third round by the Rams in 2015. If he does get the start, he will be in a great spot at home against a 49ers pass defense tied for the second-most pass TDs allowed.
Cody Kessler/Josh McCown
It has become quite clear the Cleveland Browns really do not want to go 0-16. They haven’t packed it in yet despite what it may look like, they’re just really bad. Robert Griffin III will be given another shot to start in Week 16. However, if (when) he performs below average again, perhaps Kessler or McCown will be given one more shot at getting a W in Week 17.
Cardale Jones – Buffalo Bills
Rex Ryan is almost certainly losing his job at the end of the season. Perhaps that won’t be the only shake up we see in Buffalo. Perhaps we see Cardale Jones get a Week 17 start as well. Keep your eye on this team. Regardless, Jones has become much more interesting in dynasty as of late, with negative Tyrod Taylor reports coming out of Buffalo.
