#SFB480 Interview with Eric Dickens
The Scott Fish Bowl commences on July 11th. We asked Zach Law to interview some of the participants about the experience. Today’s subject: Eric Dickens – Chief Brand Officer of Dynasty League Football.
1. Can you give me a two-sentence introduction to your fantasy football “personna”? Include your Twitter handle.
I’m the Chief Brand Officer of Dynasty League Football, which means I help spread the word about everything dynasty in hopes of converting as many people as possible. You can find me on Twitter @DLFootball, providing info from DLF and elsewhere that will help you dominate your dynasty leagues.
2. Who in your division do you want to take down the most?
Hmm, tough question. I’d say Justin Huestis, but I think my Broncos beating his Panthers in the Super Bowl was enough of a beatdown for a while. I’ll go with Kevin Cole, who is an extremely smart guy who has done some terrific work on how to exploit the settings/scoring in SFB. He’s gonna be a tough out.
3. Do you have a strategy already set up for the draft or do you let the board fall to you?
Last year was my first year in the SFB and I had a lot of success in the regular season, finishing as the second overall scorer before falling hard in the playoffs. I know my proclivity for dynasty can skew my opinions of players, so I look to 4for4.com for redraft advice. I’ll merge their projections and advice with how I feel about players and hope to build on last year’s success.
You didn’t actually think I’d tell you the details of my strategy, did you?
4. If you got to pick your draft slot, what would you take and why?
I almost always prefer being close to the turn. I like getting a couple of high picks close together and then have the ability to start runs at positions later in the draft. I’m at 1.05 this year, so not my preferred draw, but I’ll try to make the most of it.
5. If you could select four people in the Scott Fish Bowl (#SFB480) to have either a beer or dinner with, who would it be?
Wow, only four? In all seriousness, I could probably name at least a hundred off the top of my head. I’ll exclude any DLF guys, since it’s likely I’ll be able to make that happen in the near future (and it’ll cut the total number by 40ish people).
- John Paulson of 4for4
- Chad Scott of TheFakeFootball
- Rich Hribar of Rotoworld
- Sal Stefanile of TwoQBs
6. What’s one non-fantasy football related interest you have that would surprise the rest of the SFB?
In what little spare time I have, I really enjoy reading… and not just tweets, Rotoworld blurbs, and DLF articles. I consume everything from Malcolm Gladwell to Stephen King, as long as it’s interesting I’m interested.
