The Scott Fish Bowl commences on July 11th. We asked Zach Law to interview some of the participants about the experience. Today’s subject: Eric Givens.
1. Can you give me a two-sentence introduction to your fantasy football “personna”? Include your Twitter handle.
My Twitter handle is @FFooball03 and I’m a huge advocate of the 2QB and Superflex league formats. I’m a habitual “Retweeter” of Crying Jordan memes, constant “Liker” of @RotoPat one-liners, and “Lover” of anything involving Pittsburgh sports.
2. Who in your division do you want to take down the most?
I only worry about taking down one person — the person who’s in 11th place at the end of the regular season. I just don’t want to finish last.
3. Do you have a strategy already set up for the draft or do you let the board fall to you?
Since this is my first SFB, I know I need to bring my “A” game, especially since I’m a “Fan” who graciously was invited to the Adult table. So, I do have a strategy but I’m pretty sure that it will get blown up after the second pick.
4. If you got to pick your draft slot, what would you take and why?
I like being the third pick in a 12 team league, as I have a great chance to get my top ranked player and my second pick is two spots earlier than the “one spot”. But, in reality, when my 1st round pick bombs, I feel better that I didn’t take a bust as the first overall pick.
5. If you could select four people in the Scott Fish Bowl (#SFB480) to have either a beer or dinner with, who would it be?
Being a Fan, I have used a lot of the analyst’s advice over the years so there are a few that have had big impact in my Fantasy Football life.
A.) You definitely have to choose Scott Fish. He “only” organizes this competition while raising close to $4,000 for kids. The man deserves a beer or 10.
B.) Sal Stefanile: His articles are the reason I tried the 2QB fantasy football format a few years ago. Plus, he just seems like an honest and genuine guy.
C.) JJ Zachariason: His advocacy of LRQB strategy has helped me win a few leagues plus he’s a Pittsburgh guy. Enough said.
D.) C.D. Carter: Honestly, I just want him to leave his phone at the table when he went to the bathroom so I can see how many people tweet “Delete Your Account” to him on Twitter.
6. What’s one non-fantasy football related interest you have that would surprise the rest of the SFB?
Since I’m just an “Am” in this SFB480 Pro-Am, I don’t think many people know me enough to be surprised. However, my real life job is saturated in the “Fintech” arena. So not only do I use the advice from most of the analyst’s sites, but I routinely critique their website UX. Yep, I’m a certified nerd.
